Marvel Comics proudly announces on ABC's The View their exciting new Thor series. Writer Jason Aaron (Original Sin) and Russell Dauterman (Cyclops) unveil their new female champion as the new Thunder God.

In the Marvel Universe, Odin bans his stubborn son, Thor, from his home of Asgard and drops him onto Earth. In order to be taught humility, the former Thunder God is placed into the disabled body of Dr. Donald Blake. Thor shares a double life with his alter ego as he defends humanity from evil, such as his adoptive brother, Loki.

The comic book industry is shaking things up once again with their three main superheroes, Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor. A brand new female hero will emerge as the Asgardian protector. Steve Rogers is the only other person who has been able to pick up Thor's hammer.

Just as it was cited in the feature film, the inscription on the hammer reads, "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

In an interview with Mavel, Aaron emphasizes the particular change, "This is not She-Thor. This is not Lady Thor. This is not Thorita. This is Thor. This is the Thor of the Marvel Universe. But it's unlike any Thor we've ever seen before."

So this means our latest heroine has qualities that make her the perfect choice to pick up the powerful mallet.  Aimed at women and little girls, our new titleholder follows a long line of strong female characters, such as the X-Men's Storm, Black Widow, and Captain Marvel.

A new Thor series will be hitting stores this October. Readers, are you excited to see this new female superhero?
