Pretty LIttle Liars Recap, 'Run Ali Run' - 'A' Is Back, Alison Gets Attacked, Aria Goes Undercover
"Did you miss me bitches?- A"
With those six words, the most notorious villain in TV history makes their reappearance.
You'd think that after last week's crazy explosive episode (literally) that this one would be a little bit mellower, well think again, because it's just as crazy.
The drama kicks off as soon as the episode starts with the girls all getting text messages at the same time. For those of you that are avid fans of the show you know what that means. 'A' is back.
Like Spencer says, it seems like 'A' took a nap and woke up tonight. The girls had a brief respite from the show's mysterious hooded villain, and after the death of Shana (who they thought was 'A') they finally thought they that would go back to a life without the constant texts, however, they were sadly mistaken. 'A' has been watching the girls since that night in New York and has been waiting for the perfect moment to strike, but why did 'A' pick now?
For any sane person watching, you would think that after all this time that the girls would just go to the police and trying to put all this behind them but Alison, the voice of reason, reminds them that if they tell anyone then all the lies that they've told will start unraveling.
Well it seems like they already are princess, as Office Tanner makes an appearance this episode and seems very interested in what happened to Shana in New York, questioning both Ezra and the girls about it. There is something that doesn't sit right with us about Tanner, she just gives us the willies.
While Ezra and Aria try to piece together a connect that could have existed between Mrs. Di and Bethany Young (the dead girl that was found in Alison's grave), Mr. Fitz gets a knock on his door, and it's none other than Officer Tanner. She stopped by to ask the English teacher about Shana, wondering if he knew that she is the one that had shot him. The cops put two-and-two together after finding gun residue on the Shana's hoodie from that night. Tanner also questions him on how well he knew Shana. Ezra lies saying not very well, to which the detective says she'll be back if she has any follow up questions.
The Radley Sanitarium plays a big role again in the series, as this was the home to Bethany before she was killed. The girls, trying to piece together anything they can find on the mystery girl, decide to do some digging at the facility. Spencer stops by first to question Eddie who she became close with while she was in the asylum herself. Sadly her old friend can't talk to her about any of the patients, and he doesn't budge when she says that it could help someone close to her.
However, later in the episode, Eddie makes a surprise drop off at Ezra's house with a package of a drawing that Bethany did while in the sanitarium, depicting Mrs. Di tending to her rose garden while a monster looks ready to bite her head off. Aria takes it upon herself to get some answers and at the end of the episode she takes on a volunteer position at Radley.
During this episode, Alison takes the forefront in 'A's' new torture plan, getting more texts from the villain than any of the other girls. One even showed a picture of 'A' putting Mrs. Di into the ground with a message attached saying, "I buried your mom the same way I watched her bury you." This lets us know that 'A' was the one to bury Mrs. Di but does that mean that the hooded assailant is the same one that killed her?
We don't know for sure, but we can at least check Mr. Hastings off the list, who reveals to Spencer that he isn't capable of killing someone even if it meant protecting her. With another suspect down, we don't know who could have done it.
With all the threats that Alison is getting she is planning on skipping town, and enlists the help of Hanna to do it. She agrees, but only because it seems that she wants to be rid her life of Ali. Something that Caleb reminds her she won't be able to do even if Alison is gone.
It seems like the list of people that are not so fond of Alison is growing, with it being revealed to the girls that both Lucas and Melissa are part of Mona's army hell-bent on taking Alison down. We aren't sure who, but someone in a hoodie shows up to Alison's house as she is getting ready to leave town. They proceed to kick the living crap out of her in an attempt to try to kill her. Luckily, Emily shows up to talk her friend out of leaving, and stops the attack before it goes too far.
After spooking whoever it was off, Alison explains to the girls that she doesn't think it was 'A' because they could have killed her but they didn't. It seems that 'A' would rather torture her and keep her in town rather than kill her. Her theory is proven right as she gets a text from 'A' saying that if she leaves town then she/he will kill her.
In the final few minutes we see Officer Tanner reemerge at Ali's house asking her if she wouldn't mind coming down to the station to answer some questions about Shana and where the girls were the night that she died. It looks like Tanner is on to them, as she doesn't seem to buy the Philadelphia story that Ali tries to tell her.
Alison gets one final text saying, "Time for the caged bird to sing-A"
