Keisha Castle-Hughes Reportedly Joins Game of Thrones Season 5 as Sand Snake
The cast of Season 5 of Game of Thrones may have just gained another member if a new report proves true, as Keisha Castle-Hughes has reportedly signed on to play one of the daughters of Prince Oberyn Martell.
The New Zealand Herald reports the 24-year-old has landed the part as a Sand Snake, one of the Red Viper's eight daughters in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series. The site speculates she would play Nymeria Sand, a beautiful, emotional and strong woman of mixed race.
The site notes some hints that point to Castle-Hughes' joining the cast. For starters, she changed her Twitter handle to include the name "Stark," one of the famous families from the books and show. She has also reportedly visited Northern Ireland, where the show is filmed.
Pedro Pascal portrayed Oberyn in Season 4 until The Mountain literally split his head apart through his eye sockets in one of the coolest and goriest scenes the show has ever done.
Speaking of the books, the show is definitely starting to catch up to Martin's work, which has caused some fans to panic. But HBO executives are not worried about the situation.
"We're not concerned about it," HBO Programming head Michael Lombardo said, according to TVLine. "We're not off on our own. George is an integral part of the creative team [and] every move is being choreographed very closely with him. We'll have to figure it out with George. We're in conversations with him."
