Noël Wells, John Milhiser: ‘Saturday Night Live’ Fires Two More Cast Members
It appears that former Saturday Night Live newcomer Brooks Wheelan is about to have some company in that "Axed From 'SNL'" category. Fellow freshman Noël Wells and John Milhiser were just fired from the iconic late night NBC sketch show.
As part of the show's annual changeover, Deadline reports that while Wells, Milhiser and Wheelan are undoubtedly let go, Michael Patrick O'Brien's fate is still unknown. However, O'Brien was in the SNL writer's room for four seasons before becoming a featured player. Some speculate that he'll either return to the room as a writer or continue as an onscreen cast member.
O'Brien is also the host of the popular web series 7 Minutes In Heaven, which has been leading many to suggest he should take the co-anchor spot on Weekend Update.
As previously reported by MStarsNews, feature cast member Nasim Pedrad, who has collected a large group of fans over her years on the show, is reportedly leaving to star on the primetime FOX series Mulaney. The show stars former SNL writer, and occasional Weekend Update performer, John Mulaney. The comedian/writer also created the upcoming FOX show ... in case the name didn't give it away.
Just last year, SNL brought on six new names to the cast: Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, Wells, Milhiser, Wheelan and O'Brien –– and later added Sasheer Zamata. The newbies were hired to replace six seasoned cast members who'd left a couple of years ago.
So, with Wheelan, Wells and Milhiser gone, that leaves Bennett, Mooney, O'Brien and Zamata. Will the rest of them make it through boot camp? We'll see!
