The 2014 edition of WWE's Battleground pay-per-view emanates live from the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa, Florida and begins with The Usos against Luke Harper and Erick Rowan for the WWE Tag Team Championships in a match that steals the show early.

The Wyatts take the first fall when Harper lays out Jimmy Uso with the big boot. The Usos take the second fall when Jey Uso rolls up Harper. The Usos then retain their titles when they hit a double superkick and a double splash.

Backstage, Seth Rollins says he is smiling tonight on this historic night because night he squashes Dean Ambrose once and for all. He says he will keep his eye on the Fatal Four Way championship match after he beats Ambrose and we could be looking at the next WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

As Rollins is about to finish speaking, Ambrose attacks him. Triple H and some officials separate them. The COO bans Ambrose from the building even though they were about to have the match in mere moments. He yells "You're not going to screw this up!" at Ambrose.

AJ Lee retains the Divas Championship against Paige with a Shining Wizard. This was a great match with numerous counters and false finishes.

Randy Orton is backstage with Kane and tries to apologize for his actions on Monday Night Raw. He asks Kane to return the favor, but he doesn't. Orton says they should be on the same page now and they must work together to take out John Cena and Roman Reigns. Kane assures Orton the winner of the match is standing right here and leaves.

Rusev comes out with Lana, who tells everyone to shut up. She says Americans should be scolded for war mongering in Iraq and Afghanistan. She makes fun of President Obama and puts a picture of Vladimir Putin on the screen. She says Rusev will crush everyone in the arena, including Jack Swagger. He comes out with Zeb Colter, who starts to insult Lana and Rusev until she slaps him. Rusev and Swagger go at it for a bit before the match actually begins. Rusev wins by count out when he counters a Patriot Lock outside the ring and sends Swagger into the steel post. He attacks Swagger after the match and locks in the Accolade.

Stardust is backstage with Goldust and the two of them cut another bizarre promo.

Seth Rollins comes out to the ring and says his opponent is not returning to the building, so he has come out to accept the victory via forfeit. He demands to be announced as the winner and to have his hand raised. He poses in the ring and leaves, but Ambrose attacks him halfway up the ramp and throws him into the crowd. They brawl to the ringside area until security pulls Ambrose away. He breaks loose a few times and keeps attacking until Triple H comes out. They start to carry Ambrose out but Rollins dives onto him and attacks him. This happens again on the stage and officials literally have to pin them down to break up the fight.

Chris Jericho defeats Bray Wyatt with the Codebreaker.

Rollins tries to leave the arena with security and he dismisses them as he gets into his car. Ambrose is hiding in the trunk with a tire iron and tries to attack. He misses, but he starts to beat him up and slams him on the car. Rollins gets away.

Bad News Barrett comes out after all the participants in the 20-man Battle Royal for the vacant Intercontinental Championship are in the ring. He compares the winner's victory to an old couple retiring to Florida in that it only delays the inevitable. He will return and reclaim his title.

Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus are the last two men standing and Ziggler gets Sheamus over the top rope, but The Miz, who had gone under the bottom rope and waited by the announce table, rushes back in and throws Dolph over the rope to win the title.

John Cena retains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when he hits the Attitude Adjustment onto Randy Orton on Kane's prone body and pins Kane. This was a solid match that featured plenty of finishing moves and false finishes from all four competitors, especially Roman Reigns.
