Guillermo Del Toro's The Strain has made its way from the Dark Horse Comics page to the TV screen. Terrifying viewers everywhere, now the horror/vampire FX series looks to hook the San Diego Comic Con audience with The Strain Transformation app

In our recent recaps, we have seen the arrival of an ancient evil force in New York City. CDC specialist Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) has stumbled upon a deadly virus that bears an uncanny resemblance to vampirism. When the infection spreads, the thirst for blood becomes too much for the host to bear.

In the second episode, "The Box," we saw a rock star succumb to his blood lust while in the middle of a threesome, The Goth-looking musician cannot control himself when he spots bloodstains on the floorboards. He drops to his knees, licking the blood off the floor with his tongue.

The Strain Transformation app lets the viewer see the monstrous transformation in a few seconds. The infected patient has to take a selfie, a close-up snapshot, in order for the diagnosis to work. From there, we see the skin color changing as the virus spreads through the face.

When the host shares the transformed picture on Facebook and Twitter, they also get access to exclusive video. Agency Neo-Pangea send something that works well with the shows' horror themes.

As reported here, The Strain is set to premiere its third episode, "Gone Smooth," at Comic-Con. After the screening, audiences will be presented with a Q&A session with the cast and crew, including Stoll and Del Toro.

The Strain Transformation app is now available as a free download at the iTunes and Google Play stores. Readers, would you like to see yourself as a vampire?
