Byron Scott To Coach LA Lakers & Kobe Bryant: Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Reject Lands Four-Year Contract

Byron Scott is a living LA Lakers legend, and he will now become their latest NBA coach, signing a four-year contract. Their former player was most recently coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but it didn't go so well, with Scott being fired. However, he was able to convince the Lakers that he can handle their championship aspirations, and can help once again to get the best out of elite veteran Kobe Bryant. Is this one of the biggest mistakes in Lakers history, or will it prove to be a genius decision?

The Lakers will pay him around $17 million over the four-year deal, with the final year being a team option. The talks lasted around two weeks, before the franchise decided that he was the man for the job, putting an end to their three-month wait. Scott won three NBA championships whilst playing for the Lakers, and he has had other successes as a coach, despite his latest, and worst spell in Cleveland.

It seems Kobe will be happy at least, as he explained "He was my rookie mentor when I first came into the league. So I had to do things like get his doughnuts and run errands for him and things like that. We've had a tremendously close relationship throughout the years. So, obviously, I know him extremely well. He knows me extremely well. I've always been a fan of his."

Can Scott bring glory back to the Lakers again, or is this yet another horrible misstep?
