98 Degrees announces Today Show performance in August, currently working on new music in the studio
Get ready for one hot August, the heartthrobs of 98 Degrees - the 1990s boy band that made guys sporting white tank tops look cool - are officially back in full gear, preparing to tour and head back in the studio to make some new music.
After announcing their addition to the August 18 lineup for the MixTape Festival in Hershey, PA (which will feature performances by The Wanted, New Kids on the Block, and even the Backstreet Boys) 98 Degrees also announced their scheduled appearance on the Today Show the day before the festival performance, August 17.
According to a press release sent out by the band on Tuesday, "With so much to celebrate, this reunion is going to be one big party, so whether you tune in to the Today Show or join us at the MixTape Festival, everyone's invited."
98 Degrees has not released any new material since their third and final studio album, 2000's Revelation. Following the band's split, band member went separate directions. Nick Lachey went on to become a popular television personality, band mate Justin Jeffre got arrested at an Occupy Cincinnati protest, Jeff Timmons pursued a solo career, and Drew Lachey appeared on Broadway.
Band members Nick and Drew Lachey announced in June to Ryan Seacrest that the group will reunite for a one-time performance at the MixTape Festival. The Lachey brothers will reappear on stage with Timmons and Jeffre as the 98 Degrees originally quartet.
No further performances have been schedule for after the MixTape Festival or Today Show appearances, but the band states they are currently working in the studio now to release some new music.
