Martin Prado Traded For Peter O'Brien! Arizona Diamondbacks Send Third Baseman To New York Yankees!
The Arizona Diamondbacks made one last trade by swinging in a last-minute deal before a non-waiver deadline. Before the final hour struck, primary third baseman Martin Prado was sent to the New York Yankees, in exchange for minor league slugger Peter O'Brien.
With the Yankees captain Derek Jeter retiring, this final season looks to be very interesting to watch. The infielder will be joined by Stephen Drew as reinforcements during the game. The duo will most likely show up during the final two-plus months before the postseason.
Don't feel bad though for the 30 year old athlete. According to SBNation, in the new deal, the baseball player is set to make $11 million annually for both 2015 and 2016. With the sports star's numbers dropping across the board this season, it's easy to see why the Arizona team bailed on keeping the bird baseman.
According to USA Today, Prado has not met with the high expectations during his time with the Diamondbacks. After falling short on his average, maybe moving on to the Big Apple will boost his esteem and numbers. Maybe the team will regret making the trade after this season is over.
O'Brien though would most likely do well in the offense. The former second-round pick show impressive power with his 23 homers but lacks plate behavior. Let's see how this transition will benefit the Diamonbacks in the upcoming season.
