David Zayas (Dexter) is joining the cast of Fox's Gotham. In the Batman prequel series, the Skyline actor will be playing a major DC Comics baddie that will make life a living hell for stars Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue.

In the DC Universe, Salvatore "The Boss" Maroni (Zayas) is one of the toughest mobsters in Gotham City. In writer Jeff Loeb and artist Tim Sale's masterpiece, The Long Halloween, which served as the basis for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, Maroni is important for the creation of Two-Face. In the midst of his high-profile trial, the gangster throws acid onto Harvey Dent's face, scarring him both mentally and physically.

According to Deadline, Zayas will have a recurring role as Maroni in the TV series. It is unclear though when we will see the mob series arrive in the first season. We do know that female gangster Fish Mooney (played by Jada Pinkett-Smith) will play as his rivals.

We also reported here that Harvey Dent will show up as well. In the comics, the DCU villain is the childhood best friend of Bruce Wayne. In his TV alter ego, Dent will be slightly older but may be starting out in law school, much like how Jim Gordon (McKenzie) is a rookie detective.

While the Gotham pilot made its premiere at San Diego Comic Con, Fox also released the "Movie" trailer:
