Bear McCreary, 'The Walking Dead' Composer, Scores NBC’s 'Constantine' Main Theme With Full Orchestra [Watch Video]
If you are a fan of the hit AMC TV show, The Walking Dead, then you already know that the frightening music is integral to the bleak atmosphere and powerful performances. As viewers, we take a peak at how composer Bear McCreary conducts an orchestra performing the main title to NBC's Constantine.
In the DC Comics/Vertigo Universe, John Constantine (played by Matt Ryan) is an occult detective, ladies man, and con artist all put together. Though he wants to do some good in his life, the troubled anti-hero walks a fine line between sorcery and danger. In his trademark fashion, Constantine steps out into the world wearing a white dress shirt, a faded trench coat, and carries a box full of cigarettes in his pocket.
The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. composer definitely knows a thing or too about comics. The Emmy-winning musician is actually one of the few who actually score the tracks with a live orchestra. Due to the fast pace of television scheduling, most professionals conduct the pieces electronically.
In the video, McCreary just nails the main theme with the deep bass line and electronic stylings. In the footage, we see Ryan jumping into action as the supernatural advisor exorcises a demon from a woman's body. Notice how the conductor moves his hands and the orchestra pull at the strings at the same time.
