Doctor Who's season 8 premiere episode "Deep Breath" is coming to us on August 23, but we still have a lot of questions about 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi. Luckily for us, series showrunner Steven Moffat keeps sharing some new teasers about the actor and how he'll portray the legendary Time Lord!
"Peter will still be very much The Doctor. He has a tremendous ability with throwaway humor and a lot of it is around the fact that sometimes he is terribly rude," he explained. "I think kids will think he is the rude Doctor."
He added: "You might want to cuddle him but he really will resist."
Are we ready for the Rude Doctor? Does this mean he'll be much different than the fun-loving, emotional Matt Smith? Moffat is really trying to reinvent his series.
"Certain things we were doing a little reflexively. Some of the humor was getting a bit glib," he told Empire Magazine this week. "One of the hardest things to notice is when your new idea has become your old idea and it's time to get rid of it."
He added: "Some situations are more somber and I think there are more rooted dramatic scenes. Over the past two or three years, which I've loved, there has often been a breathless vigor; we still have that attack, but we have another level of drama, another tone. And the scenes are longer."
