Keke Palmer To Play First African American Cinderella On Broadway; Actress Once Again Making History After Her First Talk Show Aired On BET
Looks like Keke Palmer is living proof that, "nothing is impossible." The youngest talk show host, is making history once again this time as the first black Cinderella on Broadway.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Palmer has earned the role of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella starting on September 9.
The 21-year-old will be taking over for Cindy Paige Faure, as she leads the show's national tour this fall. Palmer made television history this summer when she became the youngest talk show host ever to have a run trial on the network, BET. Her show was entitled, Just Keke, featuring guest like Michael Ealy, Chris Brown's ex, Karrueche Tran, and more.
Although Palmer is not the first African American Cinderella ever, we hope that she does just as well as singer Brandy Norwood, who played Cinderella in 1997 for the hit ABC TV movie along with the late singer, Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother.
Palmer's other film and TV work includes, Animal, Masters of Sex, The Trip to Bountiful, Akeelah and the Bee, Joyful Noise, The Cleaner, True Jackson, VP and 90210.
Palmer, a singer also released her debut album So Uncool by Atlantic Records in 2007. According to Broadway, Palmer expressed her joy of singing and her wishes to be on Broadway saying, "it would be really fun" to come join "the great white way."
Cinderella is being directed by Mark Brokaw.
