Among their hit roster, such as Falling Skies and Dallas, TNT now adds the intense new drama series, Legends, to their ever-growing lineup. Based on the award-winning book by best-selling author Robert Littell, Game of Thrones alumni Sean Bean stars in the latest action-packed spy series from Homeland executive producers Howard Gordon and Alexander Cary.

In Legends, Bean plays Martin Odum, an undercover agent working within the FBI's Deep Cover Operations division. In the DCO division, Martin has the uncanny ability to transform himself into an entirely different person. But when he starts to question his own identity, Martin discovers he isn't quite the man he's supposed to be.

MStars participated in a roundtable interview, speaking with the Lord of the Rings actor himself. Known for his distinctive exits in popular mainstream movies and TV, the versatile Legends actor spoke about the upcoming season premiere, the challenges of creating different personalities on a tight schedule, and his favorite death scene.

About how he became involved in the project:

SB: I talked to Gordon, who developed it, and he put me in the picture as to what it was all about. We didn't have any script at the time. It was just an idea. But, I thought it was a very good idea and a very exciting one to have the opportunity to play multiple personas.

I thought of Martin Odum as the anchor and his characters are legends, which branched off around that. That was the idea and the key to keeping him believable; while taking some part of his personality into each character.

What excited him about the leading role:

SB: It started off from scratch. It was just wonderful to have an opportunity to actually create someone with mannerisms, idiosyncrasies, various character traits. That was particularly exciting for me and very much part of the attraction to doing it.

They're all very different, but they all have a piece of Martin in there. You've got to have some kind of truth to hang onto.

Which of the multiple character was his favorite to play on the TNT drama:

SB: I guess one of my favorites, perhaps the favorite, was the original character that was first created and that was Lincoln Dittman. And he was a kind of stumbling big geeky guy, with a victim complex, who latches onto other people.

During the conference, MStars chimed in, acknowledging that not only does the English actor have to physically alter himself for each character; he also has to find the voice for each one.

MS: Tell me about the challenges that went on behind creating each persona, especially on a tight TV schedule.

SB:  Yes, I guess where I start is getting inside the man's head and trying to work from the inside out. Then I put on the costume and various other effects.

But it is very much about finding a voice, finding out what makes the guy tick, getting into his psyche, and making it your own.

I didn't want to make any big obvious changes, like wearing a wig or mustache, and stuff like that. I wanted to make them more subtle and more kind of physiological rather than physical, even though they did have their own particular physical attributes.

About his death reel and the promotion of #DontkillSeanBean:

SB: I'm not that familiar with these things. I'm not very well educated in computers or the internet; not vastly educated anyway.

Memes, soundbites and hashtags...Oh my gosh! I'm amused by all of them! It obviously plays a major part in promoting productions, such as Legends these days. So I'm quite happy to go along with that.

I saw it (the death reel) a few months ago. My kids said, "You should watch this, Dad!" And I'd heard about it. I thought it was successfully done. I was quite flattered by it in all honesty.

After being killed 25 times, his favorite death scene:

SB: Game of Thrones was a very memorable scene to shoot. I guess it wasn't quite as physical as Boromir's death in Lord of the Rings, but it was quite a ghastly moment.

Just the shear betrayal, you have this one man who has a moral compass, a good man. His demise was solely lost because he was surrounded by corrupt people. He was in a pit of snakes.I think that was what made it particularly shocking and moving.

The season premiere of Legends hits TNT on Wednesday, August 13, at 9 PM. Readers, are you excited to see Sean Bean in his new spy series?
