Lamb of God Cancels Tour, Front Man Randy Blythe Imprisoned for Manslaughter Charges in Czech Republic
The Metal band Lamb of God was forced to cancel their upcoming tour with Dethklok on Thursday because they are still attempting to secure bail for vocalist Randy Blythe, who is imprisoned in the Czech Republic and pinned with manslaughter charges.
Blythe's manslaughter charges are the result of a death which took place at a Lamb of God show at Club Abaton in Prague in 2010. During the show Blythe allegedly shoved a local fan - identified by Czech media as "Daniel N" - off stage. The man reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage leaving him comatose which resulted in his death 14 days later.
Although many members of the Lamb of God community strongly deny the charges made against Blythe, including fans and fellow rock-metal musicians Slash and Sebastian Bach, the prosecutor in the case challenged Blythe's attempt to secure bail. The said prosecutor denied the rocker's plea for bail by placing a $400,000 payment - double the amount Blythe originally posted to secure his release as he awaits a possible trial.
The Czech judge will review the prosecutor's reasons as to why Blythe's bail should be denied in court on Friday. The judge's ruling will be finalized and presented ten days later, and unless formal charges are filed Blythe should be allowned to leave the Czech Republic free of any bail hindrances and return to the United States.
Fellow Lamb of God band mates have set up a legal support fund to raise money for Blythe's defense.
Meantime, it is reported that Blythe is doing okay in jail in the Czech town of Pankrac, reading and writing letters and maintaining a diary. He's using this experience to start gathering ideas for a book and future song lyrics.
The Lamb of God and Dethklok tour was set to kick off on August 1 in Seattle. Upon Blythe's release, Lamb of God intends to rebook a tour in the fall. The band also promises to participate in the Mayhem Festival Cruise in December, which travels from Miami, FL to the Bahamas.
