'Assassin's Creed' Movie News, Trailer Spoilers, 2015 Release Date Rumors - Michael Fassbender Talks Video Game Adaptation Plot & More!
The video game franchise Assassin's Creed has two new titles with release dates in 2014 including Unity and Rogue, but perhaps a bigger release for the game is the movie adaptation that we haven't heard much about in a while. According to the film's producer and star Michael Fassbender, it is very much in the works and is set to hit theaters on August 7, 2015. Find out what else the Frank star and his Macbeth director, Justin Kurzel, are doing with this adaptation below!
It's great to see a release date set for the film, plus the inclusion of director Kurzel and his experience with Fassbender sure helps calm the nerves of those worried that this project is going to fall apart. In fact, Fassbender ensures that filming will start soon.
"I'm still a part of Assassin's Creed, and we're working on the script as we speak. Actually, I'm going to go back and see the writers when I get back to Europe," Fassbender said this week in an interview with IGN.
Putting more worries to rest, the actor insists that his film will "respect the game" and surely prove to be a great movie for fans of the series.
"We absolutely want to respect the game. There's so much cool stuff in the game that we're actually spoiled for choice in terms of what we can use and what we can't, but we also want to bring new elements to it and perhaps our own version of things that already exist in the game," he explained. "But we're definitely making a feature film, and we're approaching it as a feature film, as opposed to approaching it as a video game. But I love the world. I don't really play that many video games, but when I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they started to explain this whole world and the idea of DNA memory - you know, I think it's a very feasible scientific theory."
