Eminem Ice Bucket Challenge? NHL Star Alex Ovechkin Taunts Rapper On Instagram After Viral ALS Donation, Will 'The Monster' Tour Emcee Accept? [WATCH Video]
Several celebs and athletes are taking part in Facebook's viral "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" - including NHL star, Alex Ovechkin.
The 28-year-old Russian ice hockey player stripped down to his briefs and poured a waterfall of freezing-cold water over his head in support of the cause. He then posted the short clip on Instagram.
But things get even better... he challenges rapper Eminem to complete the same action within 24-hours!
a0gr8: "take it & donate! Haha #ALSIceBucketChallenge U take it now Malkin Boborovsky Radulov & Eminem hahaa."
Ovechkin also made a money donation to the ALS Association, which is what the Ice Bucket Challenge is really all about:
The Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one's head. It was started as a campaign to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and gained widespread popularity in 2014. The rules state that after being challenged to participate in the activity, the challenged has 24 hours to either participate, or, if they choose not to do so, to donate $100 to the ALS charity of their choice. This has led some commentators to criticize it for portraying the challenge itself as preferable to donating to ALS organizations. It has led to a significant spike in both funds raised for ALS-related organizations and awareness of ALS. Since July 29, more than 70,000 new donors have donated money to the ALS Association (via Wiki).
So... will Slim Shady accept or even respond?
The Detroit emcee has yet to take any action on Instagram - he's currently busy touring alongside Rihanna on "The Monster" Tour.
Stay tuned.
