It looks like there is trouble brewing in Mystic Falls. Ahead of the season six premiere of The Vampire Diaries, it seems that one of the main cast members is rethinking their future on the popular CW series. Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and Paul Welsey are reportedly all in negotiations with the studio for season seven of the supernatural series, but reports are claiming that while two of the stars have already committed, that one of them is seeking greener pastures.

According to E! News, two of the three stars (Nina, Ian, Paul) are planning to stay with the series, while one is being more reluctant to continue with the show. Multiple sources confirmed this news to the entertainment site.

Should the third star not sign on for the seventh season, the news site is confirming that the focus of the show will then shift to the other minor, but still fan favorite characters.

Executive producer of the series Julie Plec, opened up about the future of the series during a Comic-Con interview last month.

"I think the show will go as long as the actors want the show to go," Plec said. "You know, look, everybody's under contract. I know that we've got plans for season six, we've got plans for season seven. I know that our bosses have plans for seasons eight, nine, and ten. I said I want to be part of it as long as I know I could keep telling good stories and as long as the ensemble people that I work with want to be there and are committed and dedicated."

The sixth season of The Vampire Diaries will premiere this fall on the CW.
