Johnny Manziel Fined By Cleveland Browns: NFL Rookie Future Has HUGE Shadow Cast Over It? Can Former Texas A&M Quarterback Leave His Troubled Times Behind?

By Kenneth Brown | Aug 15, 2014 05:06 PM EDT

During his NCAA career with Texas A&M, Johnny Manziel got in to trouble on a regular basis. Despite everybody looking to pick out problems in his every move for the Cleveland Browns, the NFL rookie hadn't done anything wrong when it came to football, however that has now changed, and many are becoming increasingly concerned that Manziel was not the player they hoped he would be. First the Browns signed a new QB in Rex Grossman, and now Manziel has been fined for being minutes late to a team meeting. Can he ever be mature and leave his troubled days behind him?

Johnny has shown glimpses of promise in training camp and pre-season, but the Browns are hoping he matures both as a person and a player. Despite it only being a few minutes, Johnny knows every wrong move will be blown out of proportion, so its begs to ask, why would he make such a silly, unnecessary mistake?

Johnny is competing to be the team's starting QB, but he has maturity and experience in his way, so a simple mistake like this will do his chances a lot of harm. Will Johnny learn from his erratic behaviour? It's clear he has game-changing potential, but the Browns clearly want and need him to sort out his entire perception on life before he's given his chance.

One day he will Browns QB, but if he keeps messing them around, he just might not get a chance any time soon. Can Manziel mature in to a star?
