Pharrell Williams’ ‘NBA 2K15’ [Listen]: Lorde, Santigold, Lauryn Hill, The Black Keys, & More Join Soundtrack! [Watch Videos]
Pharrell Williams has partnered up with 2K Sports for their best-selling basketball videogame franchise. As the music curator, the Grammy-winning Happy rapper has chosen 27 must-listen to tracks from the upcoming NBA 2K15 soundtrack.
Being the music curator for 2K Sports is definitely a tall order. The hip hop artist has to follow-up Jay-Z, who served as the executive producer back in 2012. Even ex-Miami Heat basketball player LeBron James picked songs for last year's installment. Not only does Williams have to be the money-maker, he also has to stand out.
As the second music performer, the In My Mind artist has picked out fellow musicians Lorde, Lauryn Hill, Public Enemy - and this is just naming a few in the score. Though the N.E.R.D. player isn't a hardcore gamer, his six-year-old son Rocket gave him a crash course lesson in gaming.
The Neptunes founder tells Billboard he took in a female perspective during the music process, "There are girls that play the game and there's a lot of girls that are around it ...so I thought it'd be such an interesting twist to have the girls weigh in on the song list, because they listen to it just as much."

From the NBA 2K YouTube page, Pharrell shares more insight behind the tracks, "That list is dear to me, also dear to my team. Those are songs that moved us as people."
