First Look Photo of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in Ant-Man
After much turmoil, production has finally begun on Marvel's Ant-Man project, and the first photo of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang has appeared online.
USA Today unveiled the photo of Rudd in a hoodie and vest. The character is unshaven and stands near a beaten up van near the Golden Gate Bridge (filming began in San Francisco on Monday).
In the film, Lang is an ex-con and a thief who meets Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), a brilliant scientist and inventor of the technology that allows a man to shrink down to the size of an ant and increase his strength proportionally. Pym becomes a mentor to Lang, but outside entities threaten the two. Specifically, Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll) wants the secret to Pym's technology for his own purposes. Pym then hands down the suit and the moniker of Ant-Man to Lang and the two plan a heist that, if successful, could save the world.
"The way technology has advanced just in the last few years, picturing this world, what they can do with this kind of story line and character, I thought this could be something that could be very strange and hasn't been seen before," Rudd told USA Today in July. "I was really excited about being a part of something like that."
Evangeline Lilly also stars as Pym's daughter, Hope Van Dyne, and John Slattery will return as Howard Stark from Iron Man 2. This seems to indicate Ant-Man will have ties to the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.
