New The Walking Dead Season 5 Promo Puts Rick Grimes and Friends in Danger

AMC has released a new promo for Season 5 of The Walking Dead, which returns in October, and the trailer is not exactly all sunshine and rainbows, as one might expect.

The new promo does not offer much new footage, but it does show a brief shot of people in gas masks, presumably the residents of Terminus. Check it out below:

For more Walking Dead footage, TVLine posted a deleted scene from Season 4 earlier this week that shows Carol and Tyreese encountering more terrors as they head for Terminus. Check it out here.

In other news, fans know that Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) does not appear in Robert Kirkman's comic book; he was an original creation for the show. But Reedus' charismatic performance and Daryl's badass attitude quickly made the character a fan favorite in the show's four seasons.

We don't know much about Daryl's inner workings outside of his relationship with his brother, Merle (Michael Rooker). But some have theorized that Daryl might be homosexual. In the show's four seasons, he had something of a spark with Carol (Melissa McBride) and even Beth (Emily Kinney), though the latter is likely more of a brother-sister relationship.

In the latest issue of The Walking Dead comic book (via ComicBook.com), Kirkman addressed the theory that Daryl is gay. "All I can say is that it's been discussed," he wrote. "We have very specific ideas about Daryl's sexuality (or the seeming lack thereof), and if there's ever a quiet period in the show where he's not consistently distracted by crossbowing...we'll tackle it in the show." He also said AMC "absolutely would" let the show go through with such a character change.
