'RHOA' Star NeNe Leakes Says, 'Being Real' Can Be Harsh Sometimes, Leakes Claims, "I Always Think Before I Say Things, I Am A Straight Shooter"
NeNe Leakes is no stranger to being called the "mean girl," for her blunt ways, and bold comments. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star is admitting to growth, but not changing her ways, but that she is a work in progress, during an recent interview with Pose magazine.
"I am older and wiser. I know so much more now that I didn't know when I came into this world. I feel I have gotten better. I feel my life has changed for the better," NeNe, the only remaining original cast member of the hit Bravo TV show shared with the magazine.
NeNe has had issues in the past, with what it seems, all the ladies of the RHOA, including former co-stars Sheree Whitfield and Kim Zolciak (currently friends again), and now it seems that her beef is with former BFF, Cynthia Bailey.
NeNe has definitely expressed that she is unapologetic for her comments, and the way she comments on things can be unforgettable. Leakes claims that she is aware of her behavior, and reveals that she "always thinks before saying something," and that sometimes the truth hurts.
"I do think that being real can come off as being harsh," she stated. "I have to always think before I say things because I am a straight shooter. I don't think it is being mean. I think it's the delivery that makes it mean. Sometimes I just shoot and move on. I don't really know any other way to do it, but I am learning that sometimes everything doesn't need to be said."
As the reality star works on thinking before she speaks, she adds that she is real that is all she will ever be.
"A lot of these girls come on the show and create a show that is in their head. I come on the show and I play NeNe because it's a reality show. These other girls come on as characters," Leakes said. "If you ask me to be real, I am going to be real and you may not like it. Be sure you want to ask me because I am going to tell you."
