The Aug. 25, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw emanates live from the Honda Center in Anaheim and begins with the Hall of Fame forum featuring Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels with Michael Cole as moderator.
Cole mentions the rematch between Brock Lesnar and John Cena at Night of Champions for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. HBK says Cena's chances are slim and he's not going to get the title back. He points out every wrestler comes to a crossroads, and it might be Cena's time to "say when." Hogan says Cena can still go. Flair says he thinks the world of Cena and points out he is a 15-time champion and the franchise.
Hogan says he's gotten to know Cena personally and "Hustle, Loyalty and Respect" is really who he is. He keeps trying to promote Cena but HBK says Cena is a different man after the beating at SummerSlam. The three men continue to weigh in until Cena's music hits.
Cena says he has nothing but respect for all three men, but he is sick of al the talk. He says point blank that SummerSlam was a "100% beat down." Cena says after it was over, all he wanted to do was fight Lesnar again because he plans on bringing the fight to him at Night of Champions. Cena says he is "going to Night of Champions to beat Brock Lesnar's ass" and leaves.
Rusev beats Jack Swagger when the referee stops the match after Rusev relentlessly pummels him with kicks.
Cesaro beats Rob Van Dam to become the No. 1 Contender to the United States Championship. He stares down Sheamus, who was on commentary, after the match, throws the title at him and leaves.
Paige defeats Natalya in a non-title match. AJ Lee skips down to the ring after the match and Paige runs right into a clothesline from Nattie. AJ gets in the ring and helps Paige to her feet. AJ says she knows Paige meant it when she called them frenemies, but not as sincere as AJ is. AJ smiles and hugs Paige, who looks confused. AJ takes Paige's hand and kisses it. She skips around a bit more and then leaves.
Corporate Kane comes out for the "Eulogy of Dean Ambrose." The ring is decorated with wreaths and a photo of Ambrose. Kane calls it a celebration of the future, Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins. Rollins says he was the leader of The Shield and he handpicked Ambrose to be a member because pain and fear were never factors for him. But last week, Rollins had to prove that the Authority always wins.
They show footage of the match last week and Rollins starts to laugh. He says Ambrose was outmatched and now he will have a headache for the rest of his life. Rollins says Ambrose's life can now be summed up with "What if," as in "What if Dean Ambrose had known his place?" Rollins says it's highly likely we will never see Dean Ambrose again. Rollins created The Shield, and now he has destroyed it.
Roman Reigns' music hits and he heads through the crowd. Kane tries to cut him off but Reigns disposes of him. Reigns gets some shots in on Rollins and even hits him with the podium. He goes for the spear but Kane pulls Rollins out of the way and they escape up the ramp.
Goldust and Stardust cut a brief promo backstage about winning the Tag Team Championships from The Usos tonight. The Dust Brothers win the match by countout. Goldust gets a mic and says they got counted out on purpose. He demands a rematch now but the Usos refuse, so the Dust Brothers attack them.
Rollins is backstage with Kane and is fuming about Reigns. Kane books a handicap match with the three men for later in the night.
A video package airs with Lesnar and Paul Heyman talking about the rematch with Cena at Night of Champions.
Dolph Ziggler is supposed to fight The Miz, but the latter comes out in a suit talking about how he went to Disneyland and didn't have to wait in line. It's a perk, just like having his own stunt double: Damien Mizdow. Ziggler wins with the Zig Zag. The Miz, who was on commentary, applauds and heads up the ramp.
Jerry "The King" Lawler is in the ring to do some family therapy with Brie Bella and Nikki Bella. Nikki comes out first and moves her chair to the edge of the ring. Brie then comes out and they immediately start arguing about their entrance music. Brie says she trusted Nikki and they even used to hold hands together in the womb. Brie says she quit for her husband, Daniel Bryan, not knowing that Stephanie McMahon would abuse Nikki. Brie apologizes but Nikki doesn't accept it.
Nikki says she doesn't buy Brie's story and says Brie always wanted it to be about her. Nikki says maybe Brie was holding her back in those ultrasound pictures. Nikki says she is done with Brie and her desire to save the world with her husband. Nikki says Brie abandoned her and calls her a sad excuse for a sister and a human being.
Brie starts to cry and Nikki taunts her more. King tries to break it up but Nikki yells at him to get out. Nikki grabs Brie and says as far as she is concerned, she has no sister and she wishes she died in the womb. She starts to assault Brie but King pulls her off. Nikki slaps King and continues the attack until King and some referees break it up. Nikki continues to yell that she has no sister and that Brie is dead to her.
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins and Kane ends in a disqualification when Rollins smashes Reigns with the Money in the Bank briefcase after Reigns speared Kane and tried to pin him. They continue to beat him up after the match and pull out another pile of cinderblocks just like last week, but Reigns fights back and hits a Superman Punch on Rollins. Reigns picks up a cinderblock and tries to throw it at Rollins' head, but he ducks it and runs away. He hits a Superman Punch on Kane as Rollins watches from the stage.
Bray Wyatt cuts a promo backstage about his match with John Cena later in the night.
Los Matadores (w/El Torito) defeat Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil.
Bo Dallas defeats Kofi Kingston with the Bo-Dog. Bo gets a microphone and says Kofi is not like Jack Swagger because he only let himself down, not his entire country. But both men need to learn to Bo-Lieve. Swagger runs out and plants Bo into the mat.
Cena faces Wyatt and it's basically a reverse of what happened at SummerSlam. Cena breaks out German suplexes and gets Bray down, so Luke Harper and Erick Rowan attack him to cause the DQ. Big Show and Mark Henry run down to make the save. The match turns into an impromptu six-man tag team match.
Cena gets Harper to tap out to the STF. He then hits an Attitude Adjustment on Rowan. Big Show and Henry throw Bray into the ring and he hits him with an AA, as well. He picks up Harper and AAs him for good measure. He celebrates and poses with some fans as the show goes off the air.
