Tom Brady, Ryan Mallett & Jimmy Garoppolo: Assessing New England Patriots' Quarterback Situation Ahead Of 2014/15 NFL Season: Who Will Be Boston's Boy? NFL Rookie Preview
The 2014/15 NFL season is a matter of days away, and the New England Patriots are perhaps one of the only teams that are 100% confident in the man they call their starting quarterback. That man is veteran Tom Brady. The Patriots love him, but they know all good things must come to and end, and Brady's end may come sooner rather than later. Back-up Ryan Mallett was tipped to one day replace him, and now they've added rookie Jimmy Garoppolo, so should Brady still be the starter, and where does this leave the other two QB, and who will be Boston's boy?
Brady will start, there is no questioning that fact. However, if he gets hurt, or starts to struggle, who will they turn to next? Mallett has been around for a while, but the Patriots have been trying to trade him since he got through the door, suggesting there's something seriously wrong, or they believe his value as Brady's back-up is much higher than the skill Mallett possesses.
Rookie Garoppolo is highly rated, and many believe that he will be the second choice in a matter of weeks, with the Patriots looking to see how Brady starts the season, what they can get for Mallett and how quickly Jimmy settles. If that's the case, expect Mallett to be traded in the near future for a low draft pick.
There should be plenty more of Brady before the time comes, but sooner or later Boston's new boy with the ball may the the young, talented Garoppolo.
