Mariah Carey Following Britney Spears? Nick Cannon's Former Wife Tapped For Vegas Residency Amid Divorce & Cheating Scandal
Could Mariah Carey be following in the footsteps of pop divas Britney Spears and Celine Dion? Well according to new reports, the singer could be looking to take on a Vegas residency.
According to TMZ, Carey could be filling the spot that is being left open by Dion after she announced she was planning to take a leave of absence from her "A New Day Has Come" residency at the Colosseum until the spring of 2015 in order to take care of her husband Renee.
The venue is looking at Mariah to help fill the arena until Celine makes her return. They're hoping that the soon-to-be single mom of two along with other performers would help to keep the venue active.
According to the reports, the Colosseum venue has already extended an offer to Carey. They have offered the "The Art Of Letting Go" songstress a "lucrative" deal for a weekend show that would pay $750,000.
The venue is also looking at Adele, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Prince and Bruce Springsteen as a few other acts that would help to drum up some business during Celine's extended absence.
They have also extended the search to comedians, as TMZ says that have looked at Chris Rock and Chelsea Handler to fill the 4,300-seat arena.
However, the arena is also saying that these performers were all thought of prior to Celine announcing her absence, since the venue had some dates to fill. As of right now though, none of the artists have agreed to perform.
