Joan Rivers Cardiac Arrest Update- 'Fashion Police' Host Getting Brought Out Of Coma
Joan Rivers has had an uphill battle since suffering from cardiac arrest earlier this week. The Fashion Police star who underwent a routine surgery at an endoscopy clinic on Thursday, stopped breathing while she was under the knife. She was then rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital where she was put into an induced coma, which is where she stayed until now.
New reports from the New York Daily News are claiming that the 81-year-old comedienne is in the process of being taken out of the coma.
"The waking-up process has begun and will take until Tuesday," the news site is reporting. "There is real concern that the part of the brain that controls motor skills may have been compromised leaving her as either a vegetable or in a wheelchair."
However, even though she is being brought out of the coma, the extent of the damage won't be known until Tuesday at the earliest.
Joan's daughter Melissa Rivers said that she is staying hopeful about her mother's condition, saying in a statement, "We are keeping our fingers crossed." She also thanked all of Joan's fans for their support during this difficult time.
Even though she is trying to stay strong, the Daily New is saying that Melissa has been "totally hysterical and is at a loss for what to do because they wont know the extent of the damage until Tuesday at the earliest."
Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Joan and her family during this difficult time.
