Monday Night Raw Results 9/1/14: WWE Raw Recap September 1, 2014: John Cena in Six-Man Tag Team Main Event
The Sept. 1, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw emanates live from the Wells Fargo Center in Des Moines, Iowa and begins with Chris Jericho and his Highlight Reel segment. He tries to introduce his guest, Randy Orton, but Triple H's music hits. He, Orton, Seth Rollins and Kane make their way to the ring.
Jericho insults the men and Triple H says he would like nothing more than to swap insults, but he has business to handle. They go back and forth a bit and Triple H says Jericho should thank him for making this the most historic Highlight Reel ever. Hunter says he has reviewed the Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena match at SummerSlam and dissected it from every angle, and he has concluded a rematch might not be best for business. He is contemplating naming a new No. 1 Contender for Night of Champions.
Orton says he is the only man in the building who can beat Lesnar. Kane and Rollins both say they can do it, and Jericho throws his name in the ring. Cena's music hits and he angrily walks to the ring. He quickly grabs a microphone and demands to know what Triple H is doing. He threatens to sue Triple H if he tries to cancel the rematch.
Hunter says Cena is blinded by an opportunity for redemption. Triple H says Lesnar ending Cena's career is not good for business at all. Rollins says they should have the rematch and teases cashing in the briefcase. Orton says Cena has earned the rematch, but so has he because he never got his rematch from WrestleMania 30. Jericho says Orton has had about 4,000 title shots since Mania and lost them all and Roman Reigns beat him in his last big match. Orton says that means nothing, threatens Jericho and says he would drop Reigns if he were here.
Reigns' music hits and he comes through the crowd. He gets in the ring and steps up to Orton, who doesn't move. Reigns says he also deserves a title shot. Triple H says everyone wants to be in the mix, so he books a six-man tag team match to see who earns the spot. Cena, Reigns and Jericho against Rollins, Orton and Kane. Everyone leaves but Rollins to attack Reigns with the briefcase. Reigns sees it coming and gets the upper hand.
The Miz and Cesaro defeat Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus when Damien Sandow gets involved. Ziggler hits him with the Zig Zag, which allows Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.
A pre-taped promo airs of Nikki Bella talking about her sister Brie Bella.
Summer Rae, Layla and Naomi aka Slayomi fight Eva Marie, Rosa Mendes and Cameron to a double disqualification that ends in a brawl.
Big Show and Mark Henry defeat Luke Harper and Erick Rowan by disqualification when Rusev superkicks Henry as he tries to deliver the World's Strongest Slam to Harper.
Another Nikki/Brie package airs.
Paul Heyman comes out and says is he authorized to talk about Cena's "overcompensatory behavior." He recalls how Lesnar emasculated Cena at SummerSlam and says Cena has not thought clearly since he came back after that beating.
Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter) gets Curtis Axel to tap out to the Patriot Lock. Bo Dallas comes out and introduces Swagger to three people whose lives he's supposedly ruined when he lost to Rusev at SummerSlam.
Adam Rose defeats Titus O'Neil when the bunny in the Exotic Express beats up Heath Slater.
Rusev (w/Lana) defeats Zavk Ryder with the Accolade. Lana cut a pre-match promo about Labor Day. Mark Henry hits the ring and Rusev leaves. Henry says he isn't scared of what he will do to Rusev. He tells everyone he opened an international wing in the Hal of Pain with Rusev as the first member.
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon discuss the Bella Twins' videos. Step says she has an announcement. She comes out and Nikki joins her. Stephanie grants her a Divas Championship match. Brie confronts her but Nikki continues her verbal assault. AJ Lee comes out and says she was the only true contender to the title and demands a shot. Paige comes out with the Divas title belt. AJ picks it up and skips with it before Steph demands it back and gives it to Paige.
Bray Wyatt cuts a promo about his steel cage match with Chris Jericho on next week's Raw
Goldust defeats Jimmy Uso with the Final Cut. They beat down Jey Uso's bad leg after the match.
Big Show pep talks Mark Henry about Rusev backstage.
Cena, Jericho and Reigns defeat Orton, Rollins and Kane when Roman spears Kane. Cena AAs Rollins onto the announce table and tells Triple H he is ready for SummerSlam. The babyfaces celebrate as the show goes off the air.
