Kanye West is a "Genius" Says Fat Joe on Collaboration of 'Pride N Joy'
Fat Joe admired Kanye West for the longest time before they started to work on the "Pride N Joy" collaboration together.
The new single "Pride N Joy" off Fat Joe's album Don Cartagena features Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Miguel, Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), DJ Khaled, Roscoe Dash and Jadakiss.
MTV News met up with Far Joe on the set of the Hype Williams-drected video for "Pride N Joy" and learned a few things about the collaboration. Fat Joe said, "In the world of Kanye West, it's an adventure."
Joe said that he received a phone call from West that kicked off their collaboration.
"I got a phone call from Kanye West. He said, 'Yo, Joe, it's time, let's do it,' " Fat Joe explained. "You know, he's one of my favorite rappers of all time, one of my favorite producers, so when he gave me the call, I jumped on that plane immediately and I said, 'Let's go.' "
Ye knew exactly what he wanted and Fat Joe recalled that the entire process was "an adventure". Fat Joe was not disappointed in how Yeezy revamped his track and the final result inspired Fat Joe even more than before.
"It was amazing, man. He's a genius. To get in there with him is incredible, and he likes perfection, and that only means the record is going to be hot, so, you know I love it."
