Jill Duggar Explains Why She, And Her Husband, Derick Dillard Announced Their Pregnancy So Early, Just 60 Days After Being Married; Couple Reveals When Baby Is Due
Jill, and Derick Dillard wasted no time in planning for a family. The newlyweds apparently have a honeymoon baby on the way.
The news came as a shock to the 19 Kids and Counting family, and fans as we all learned that Jill's sister, Jessa became engaged to Ben Seewald at the same time she announced her pregnancy.
Now Jill is explaining why she decided to reveal that she was pregnant so soon, just 60 days after they said "I Do."
"Understanding that the majority of miscarriages happen within the first trimester," Mrs. Dillard, 23, explained to Page Six. "And believing that every life is precious no matter how young, we decided to share our joyful news as soon as we could."
The news had some fans questioning if Duggar, now a Dillard was already pregnant before she married, Derick. If you are a fan you know that the courtship between the two was very fast, less than a year. The Duggar's however express their strong beliefs in not holding hands, and kissing until engagement and marriage, but some still felt like one Duggar broke those rules.
"We prayed a lot, prepared and really didn't see any reason to have a long courtship and engagement," Duggar said. "Once we knew we wanted to get married, we didn't want to put off the wedding for a long time and provide a stumbling block for ourselves; We purposed to save ourselves physically for each other within marriage (even our first kiss for our wedding day!), so we had a short engagement period."
She added for engaged couples, "You may not wanna push the wedding date out too far, as those natural God-given desires with too much time between engagement and marriage can make it harder to remain pure," Duggar revealed. "If you are financially ready, and things are in place (which should be at the time the question is popped), we believe an engagement should only be long enough to plan a wedding!"
Jill married, Derick, 25, in Springdale, Ark. on June 21, after getting engaged back in April. The soon-to-be parents also revealed that their was no kind of birth control.
"We knew that we weren't going to prevent having children," Duggar explained. "So when we found out we were expecting within our first month of marriage we were thrilled!"
The baby's due date is in March, as this mid-wife in training reveals that she would like to have lots of kids. "I have loved having lots of brothers and sisters," Duggar continued. "Although Derick comes from a family with just one brother, both of us would love to have as many children as God will give us... We are also open to the possibility of adoption."
During an interview with ABC News, the mother-to-be revealed that her pregnancy has been up and down. "I've been having a lot of morning sickness," she adds, "They should call it 'pregnancy sickness because it's all day."
