Kell Brook, Floyd Mayweather Jr & Amir Khan: World Welterweight Champion Stabbed, Nearly Died & Career Could Be Over
A few short weeks ago, Kell Brook beat Shawn Porter to become the IBF welterweight champion of the world, and less than a month later he was running for his life, with blood pouring from his leg, fighting for his life and his career. The British boxer was supposed to be enjoying a holiday with his family in Tenerife, but an altercation soon turned violent, with a man stabbing him three times in his leg and across his arm. He's lucky to be alive, he will be lucky to box again, but the world champion is still smiling, and he's hoping to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr or Amir Khan.
As Brook was stabbed, he ran from the apartment, stumbling over 100 yards, climbed over a wall, and tried to smash his way in to a building, for help. He alarmed the security by doing this, and the police and ambulance soon arrived. His courage outside of the ring may well of saved his life, as well as helped him to make a living in the first place
The boxer is currently recovering, and may never box again, but he was deep in preparation to fight one of Mayweather or Khan, with both believed to be his preferred options for his next two fights. Now, if Kell can walk and box again, he will be happy, but if he gets a chance to fight one of those global superstars, the boxing world will have a story on their hands.
How can superstars like Kell live a normal life? A family holiday for the world champion very nearly ended in a dramatic way, but thankfully it didn't.
