Courtney Love Responds to Lana Del Rey Nirvana Cover [VIDEO]
Courtney Love tweeted some interesting words in response to Lana Del Rey's cover of her late husband Kurt Cobain's Nirvana hit, "Heart-Shaped Box."
The tweet, which has since been deleted, reads:
Courtney Love Cobain, @Courtney: "You do know the song is about my Vagina right? 'Throw down your umbilical noose so i can climb right back,' umm."
And Love, 48, continues with:
@Courtney: "On top of which some of the lyrics about my vagina I contributed. So umm next time you sing it, think about my vagina will you? lol xc."
Realizing that she may have been a little harsh on the small-town, indie pop performer, she later tweeted:
@Courtney: "You are gorgeous and very talented, it was all in good humor love, it is true however bwahaa xc."
Del Rey, who performed the hit off of Nirvana's 1993 album "In Utero" at a show in Sydney last week, was met with rather positive acclaim by critics and fans. Love, the front woman of the alternative rock band Hole, is known for running her mouth and getting into some hot water with celebs and fans, both on Twitter and while gallivanting out in public.
Although no comment has been made by Del Ley, 26, she claims to have been a diehard Nirvana fan since the young age of 11. The singer admitted on a radio show last year that, "Even at a young age, I really related to [Cobain's] sadness."
Hopefully Del Rey realizes some of the things Love says, although a bit bizarre, are all in good fun. She should just be proud to have gotten such a positive response from her fans.
