Scandal Season 4 Spoilers: Fitz's Response to Olivia's Departure
The Season 3 finale of ABC's Scandal ended with President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) back in office after he won re-election, but lost his son. Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) left on a plane with Jake (Scott Foley) after her father (Joe Morton) convinced her to leave Washington, D.C. So what happens now between the president and Olivia, the on-again off-again lovers?
The "Spoiler Room" column at EW.com has some scoop on how Fitz reacts to Olivia's absence.
"With Olivia out of Washington, Fitz has one very important mission in mind. Sorry, it's not trying to find his lost love. As he begins his second term in office, Fitz has decided to take his administration in a new direction, using his power as POTUS for good in order to make a positive impact on the nation. See, Olivia leaves and he's a better president! Okay, you can hate me in the comments."
In related news, the Shonda Rhimes series has recast the role of Karen Grant, the President's daughter. Mary Mouser, who starred on Body of Proof, will take over for Madeline Carroll, according to EW.com.
Carroll appeared on the show last season alongside Jerry Jr., who came to D.C. as part of Fitz's reelection campaign. But the actress could not return for Season 4 due to scheduling conflicts. Mouser will take over starting with an episode in October.
Do you think Olivia and Fitz will get back together at some point this season? If so, will it actually stick this time? Or will the two remain apart for good? Let us know in the comments section.
