Premier League Transfer Gossip: Edinson Cavani, Robin Van Persie, Adnan Januzaj, Michael Carrick, Nigel De Jong, Glen Johnson & Louis Van Gaal: Manchester United & Manchester City
The 2014 summer window may be closed, but EPL giants are already eyeing deals for their 2015 winter window targets. Manchester United and Manchester City, two of the biggest clubs in England, are central to the latest Premier League transfer gossip. United could be set to sell Robin Van Persie, Adnan Januzaj and Michael Carrick, but Louis Van Gaal would look to bring in Nigel De Jong as a replacement. Their rivals, City, are looking to bring in Edinson Cavani, while Liverpool could let Glen Johnson leave.
United have signed some big-name players this summer, and their squad has a lot of options, perhaps too many. Van Persie and Carrick are two of the better players United have, but the veterans are getting close to being past their peak, and both might offer little of what Van Gaal requires from his new-look attacking team. Youngster Adnan may be set to leave, too. He will try to bring in De Jong to replace Carrick, but it's rumoured the Dutch star doesn't want to play for the Red Devils. Liverpool are set to let go of Carrick's England teammate, Johnson, due to age, too.
Across the city, their rivals, Man City, have realized they've made a mistake in selling strikers without replacing them, but it's believed they will only sign one if they can break the back and make their team a far better one. This brings in Cavani of PSG. The star wants to join a rich EPL side, and he wants to be the main man, and he can do both at City. This move is beginning to take shape, and if not completed in January, expect it to take place in the summer.
Are these the right moves to make for three of England's bigger teams?
