Craig Ferguson Congratulates New ‘Late Late Show’ Host James Corden, Tosses Justin Bieber Photo Aside [WATCH]
Just yesterday, news dropped that British comedian James Corden will officially replace current Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson when he retires later this year. Following that, the host chose to congratulate his successor in a truly unique way during last night's episode.
Ferguson kicked off the show with a photo of Corden floating in front of the camera accompanied by a horrendous (but comical) British accent. He then took to the camera carrying the said photograph, saying, "It was announced today! James Corden! He's British! He's very, very good. He's going to be the new host of the show."
The host added, "We're out of here, buddy," to his ... sidekick?
Moving towards the set's fake fireplace, Ferguson placed Corden's photograph atop the Late Late Show mantel, replacing Justin Bieber's by saying "f*ck him" and tossing it aside.

While happy for his successor, Ferguson admitted later on in the episode during his chat with former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin, that he does hope the audience "yearns" for the good old days of when he hosted.

The Hollywood Reporter recently spoke with CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler and expressed how the network landed on Corden:
"We've been long-standing fans. I first saw him in History Boys, and he's just a standout. In this day and age, certain actors come to your attention and you can't stop following them, and James is one of those talents. He has more multi-hyphenates in his resume than anyone I've seen in a long time. To me, he's like a cross between Fred Astaire and Jack Black. He just has an incredible range; everything he does has been so distinctive, and his comedy has been very specific – very fresh and very funny."
News of Ferguson leaving comes just after veteran comedian David Letterman's announcement that he's retiring from his famed Late Show spot –– which will now house Comedy Central's own Stephen Colbert.
