NBC's gruesome series Hannibal left fans in awe 2 seasons in a row, so with season 3 coming in 2015, the anticipation for new episodes is killing us! In a new interview with IGN, series showrunner Bryan Fuller opened up about the literary origins versus his take on Dr. Lecter, and also shared some spoilers for the upcoming episodes.

Fans of the show might know a bit about the Thomas Harris novels that have since turned into films; so you may notice some big differences in Fuller's series. He takes some liberties with retelling the story, but all in all it absolutely works!

"We are definitely reworking a lot of [Hannibal Rising]," Fuller said when asked about taking on Lecter's origin story, addressed in Harris' book. "It's perhaps the book that we reimagine the most for the television series. We see ourselves -- and I think I may have said this to you before -- as the Thomas Harris mashup DJs, where we're spinning tracks of Silence of the Lambs and using lyrics from Hannibal Rising. So we're taking everything almost as though you mixed it in a big, delicious cookie bowl, and now we're plucking out the chocolate chips."

Was that musical analogy helpful? It definitely makes a lot of sense.

Fuller added: "The third season, the first half, is very much a soap opera. It is all serialized. Every episode kind of stands alone as this odd, independent movie, so there's an even greater dreamlike sense of storytelling with those first seven episodes. So that's been a lot of fun creatively, just to see how this show continues to evolve and transform. The show is transforming in the way that the characters are. And the style of it is getting a little more, almost fairy tale-like in its rich sense of texture and mythology."
