Dawson's Creek alum Katie Holmes is adding director to her resume! The 35-year-old actress will be making her directorial debut in All We Had after optioning for the film rights to the story in July.

All We Had is an adaption of Annie Weatherwax's novel by the same name about a "poverty-stricken mother and daughter who find a home and comfort in a quirky small town," Entertainment Weekly reported.

"The story focuses on a mother and daughter who have nothing in their lives except each other. The mother sacrifices all for her daughter's well-being and the chance for her to get into a great East Coast College to have a better life than she did," Deadline explained.

In addition to making her directorial debut, Katie will have a starring role in the film and be a producer. According to E! Online, Katie will be joined by The Fault in Our Stars' director Josh Boone who has signed onto the project to write the script.

About A Boy's executive director, Jane Rosenthal has also signed on to produce the film.

"I am very excited and honored to be collaborating with Jane and Josh on this project and look so forward to bringing Annie's incredible characters to the screen," Katie said in a statement.

"Katie has such a clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship. Her passion for the material, along with Josh Boone's ability to tell stories grounded in the comedy and drama of everyday, will truly bring these characters to life," Jane added.
