James McAvoy Will Go Bald to Play Charles Xavier in X-Men Apocalypse
James McAvoy has played Charles Xavier in both X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, but he has had a full head of hair (and a beard in the latter movie) in both films. But it looks like the actor will finally sport the character's classic bald look for the next movie, X-Men: Apocalypse.
McAvoy spoke to The Huffington Post and said he's pretty sure his hair will be gone for the next movie. "I'll be older in this one," he said. "I think I'm losing my hair finally. And, yeah, that's kind of all I know," Recall that X-Men: Apocalypse takes place in the 1980s.
He then went on to talk briefly about the film. "I got an email from [producer/writer Simon Kinberg] who informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn't want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don't know. It does seem fairly global, if we're talking apocalypse. Maybe it's just the character's name, but I think the nature of the film is going to be fairly apocalyptic."
In other news, director Bryan Singer and the cast and crew of Apocalypse will head back to Montreal, where he filmed Days of Future Past to film the sequel in April.
The Journal de Montreal reports Singer and company will be back in April and set construction will start in December. The report says the crew will make use of Mel's Cite du Cinema, the 27-acre studio where they filmed Days of Future Past. For the last movie, they built 40 sets on site, the largest of which was the exterior of a monastery that encompassed all 36,500 square feet of Mel's Studio H. The crew also filmed at almost 40 different locations throughout Montreal.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be just the second film in the series to shoot in Montreal, as most of them were filmed in Ontario and British Columbia. X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine were both shot in Australia.
