Pia Zadora in Intensive Care After Golf Cart Accident
Actress and singer Pia Zadora has been admitted to the intensive care unit after she was thrown from a golf cart Thursday by her home in Las Vegas.
The Butterfly actress's husband, Mike Jeffries, tells the Las Vegas Sun News that she fell from a golf cart that was driven by her teenage son near her home in Summerlin.
Manager Brian Panella told NBC News, "It was an inadvertent golf cart accident. Her son was driving and he took a rather hard turn and she was tossed out of the golf cart,"
Zadora is currently at the University Medical Center where Jeffries has said she is in and out of consciousness, but is improving. She has suffered a head injury that has led to bleeding in the brain. She also suffers a right ankle fracture.
Jeffries said that his wife's upcoming performances at Piero's Italian Restaurant in Las Vegas have been canceled.
In recent news, last year Zadora was ordered by a judge to complete alcohol and impulse control counseling. She was arrested last May after she attempted to spray her teenage son with a hose to get him to go to sleep.
Zadora worked as a child actress on Broadway, however, didn't hit fame until 1981 during her highly criticized role in Butterfly where she won a Golden Globe Award as New Star of the year as well as a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress.
Her singing career proved more successful for her as she made many albums that were supported by symphonic orchestras.
Zadora has three children, Kady and Kristofer with former husband Meshulam Riklis and Jordan Maxwell Kaufer with second husband Jonathan Kaufer.
The singer married her third husband Michael Jeffries, a detective with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The couple reside in Summerlin, Nevada.
