'The Flash' Spoilers: Will Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller Form 'The Rogues' Against Grant Gustin's Barry Allen?
Every hero needs a villain, but this time around, The Flash will be facing off against a deadly twosome, who are just the start of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin)'s problems. Not only will the CW be hosting a Prison Break reunion with leading men Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller, could this also be the start of the DC Comics super-villain group The Rogues?
As we mentioned before, the Straw Dogs actor will be playing Mick Rory, known to comic book fans as Heat Wave, in the tenth episode. The Stoker scribe will be introduced to audiences as Leonard Snart, aka Captain Cold, in the fourth episode. In an interview with Comic Book Resources, executive producer Greg Berlanti teases about bringing these two baddies together.
Berlanti teases, "The thing I can say story-wise about it is, you know, they're not the Rogues as we know them, any more than Barry's yet the Flash as we know the Flash."
In the comics, Captain Cold puts together Heat Wave, Weather Wizard, Gorilla Grodd, and Captain Boomerang to form the super villain team, Rogues. The Weather Wizard will show up in the pilot, but we haven't heard if he will return in another episode. The special effects will have to do wonders to create a walking and talking Gorilla on a small-scale TV budget.
Before these baddies are put together under one roof, the series will take a look into each character. The Arrow executive continues, "We really break away and get into their lives, and that kind of thing. And Miller is brilliant in the role of Captain Cold. I can't wait for people to see his delivery and who he is. I really think he has the essence of that guy."
It will be a while before we see the Rogues team-up against the Flash. But when they do, the Flash is going to have to do more than out-run them.
The Flash will premiere Oct. 7 on the CW. Readers, are you excited to see the Rogues?
