Robin Thicke Drug Abuse, 'Blurred Lines' Lawsuit Deposition - Paula Patton's Ex-Husband's New Statements Will Change How You Feel About Hit Song

According to a new deposition given by hit pop star Robin Thicke, he wasn't completely present during the writing process of 2013's summer hit "Blurred Lines." During his statement taken for the proceedings of a lawsuit meant to protect the song from copyright infringement claims from Marvin Gaye's family, the former husband of Paula Patton admitted to drug use in the studio.

When asked during the deposition if he was present during the recording process with co-songwriters Pharrell Williams and Clifford "T.I." Harris Jr., Thicke answered "of course," since he has to record the vocals. Pressed further by the attorney, Thicke was asked if he was there during the rhythm section portion of the recording. Thicke decided to say a little too much in his answer.

"To be honest, that's the only part where - I was high on vicodin and alcohol when I showed up at the studio. So my recollection is when we made the song, I thought I wanted - I - I wanted to be more involved than I actually was by the time, nine months later, it became a huge hit and I wanted credit," he said. "So I started kind of convincing myself that I was a little more part of it than I was and I - because I didn't want him - I wanted some credit for this big hit. But the reality is, is that Pharrell had the beat and he wrote almost every single part of the song."
