We learned this week the Doctor Who Christmas Special is currently filming and the supporting cast has been rounding out as well. One of the bigger names we'll see accompanying Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the holiday episode is none other than Nick Frost from such films as Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, and The World's End. Other costars included Natalie Gumede, Faye Marsay, Nathan McMullen and Michael Troughton. What else do we know about the Christmas Special? Let's discuss below! [SPOILERS to follow]

As all Whovians around the world know, the Christmas Special is perhaps the most anticipated episode of the year, and with this being Capaldi's first Holiday episode we're sure to be in for a fantastic adventure! Last year's Christmas Special ended up being Matt Smith's farewell episode, so 2014 has to really blow us away to top that one!

From the new cast joining the special, it looks like we could easily be in for one of the most exciting adventures of the series!

"I'm so thrilled to have been asked to guest in the Doctor Who Christmas Special, I'm such a fan of the show," Frost said this week. "The read-through was very difficult for me; I wanted to keep stuffing my fingers into my ears and scream 'No spoilers!' Every day on set I've had to silence my internal fan-boy squeals!"

Fun Fact: Frost's filmmaking partner Simon Pegg appeared on Doctor Who back in the Christopher Eccleston days as a villain!

Of course, the Emmy Award winning head writer of the series, Steven Moffat, shared his excitement over the casting news and the special, too.

"Frost at Christmas - it just makes sense! I worked with Nick on the Tintin movie many years ago and it's a real pleasure to lure him back to television for a ride on the TARDIS," he said.
