Night of Champions 2014 Results: Did John Cena Regain The WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Brock Lesnar?
WWE's pay-per-view Night of Champions emanates live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and begins with the WWE Tag Team Championship match between The Usos and Goldust and Stardust.
Goldust and Stardust win the belts after Stardust blocks an Uso splash from the top rope and rolls him up.
Byron Saxton interviews Dolph Ziggler and R-Truth backstage. The Intercontinental Champion says he will rearrange The Miz's moneymaker tonight so badly that he'll never work in this town again.
Sheamus retains the United States Championship against Cesaro after a great back-and-forth fight. Cesaro looks poised to win but Sheamus tags him with a Brogue Kick and covers him for the three count.
Big Show approaches Mark Henry backstage and asks if he's ready for his match with Rusev. Henry says he won't let the country down, and Big Show tells him he has 318 million Americans in his corner. Show tells him he's not dressed correctly, and he pulls out an American flag-themed outfit for him to wear.
The Miz defeats Dolph Ziggler to win the Intercontinental Championship for the fourth time. Florida Georgia Line was at commentary for some reason and they get into a scuffle with Damien Sandow. R-Truth then chases Sandow up the ramp. Ziggler later nearly picks up the win with the Fameasser, but Sandow returns and distracts him. Miz rolls up Ziggler and hooks the tights for the win.
Seth Rollins comes out and issues an open challenge to anyone in the locker room because Roman Reigns can't fight him thanks to his emergency hernia surgery. Dean Ambrose pulls up in a taxi and heads straight for the ring. He starts to wail on Rollins and they brawl into the stands. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon come out with a crowd of officials to separate them, but Ambrose hits all the officials with a flying elbow and continues the assault.
They keep brawling in the stands and make it back to the ring. Ambrose grabs a chair and is about to hit Rollins when the officials mob him and restrain him. They tie his arms with plastic ties and carry him backstage. Triple H and Stephanie pose with Rollins on the stage.
Rusev defeats Mark Henry with the Accolade. Henry hits the World's Strongest Slam but his bad back prevents him from covering his opponent. Rusev rolls out of the ring and nails Henry with a superkick when he gets back into the ring. He locks in the Accolade and Henry taps. Lilian Garcia also sings the National Anthem prior to this match, which makes Henry cry.
Randy Orton defeats Chris Jericho when Y2J tries to go off the top rope and Orton catches him with an RKO. He even takes the time to pose before the pin.
Byron Saxton interviews Brie Bella backstage and she says Nikki Bella is still her sister despite what has happened. But she does not think Nikki should become the Divas Champion because she will become insufferable if she does. Of course, she calls her sister a bitch.
AJ Lee wins the Divas Championship when she locks in the Black Widow on Paige. AJ had thrown Nikki out of the ring just before this.
John Cena defeats Brock Lesnar (w/ Paul Heyman) by disqualification after Seth Rollins attacks Cena with the briefcase. Cena had hit three Attitude Adjustments and had Lesnar locked in the STF for quite a while. He then hits a fourth AA and goes to pin Lesnar when Rollins attacks.
Rollins then Curb Stomps Lesnar and cashes in his contract, but Cena attacks Rollins before the bell rings and Mr. Money in the Bank retreats up the ramp. Lesnar F5s Cena for good measure and walks out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
