Kira Kazantsev won the 2015 Miss America pageant on a platform of anti-domestic abuse. Now Miss New York has to debunk rumors that she was allegedly kicked out of Hofstra University's Alpha Phi sorority because of a hazing scandal.

As we mentioned here, Kazantsev was in an abusive relationship during her college days. With her platform titled, "Love Shouldn't Hurt: Protecting Women Against Domestic Violence," the Miss America winner became an advocate for those victims and wanted to spread awareness on the topic. Reportedly, there is an unflattering detail from her time at Alpha Phi that may come back to haunt her.

Jezebel reports that the pageant stunner and an unnamed friend were both kicked out of the sorority after hazing pledges. During her college days, Kazantsev served as the sorority's head of recruitment. Pledges were called names, mocked for their physical flaws, and forced to perform physical tasks to the point of bruising and exhaustion.

The Hofstra student sent an email, joking she would make the evening scary for the pledges. When a member of Alpha Phi's national organization got the email, the sorority sister received a summons for a judiciary hearing.

Kazantsev explains to US Magazine, "Based on the fact that I did not attend this hearing, that was the official reason given for my termination."

In a video interview with Good Morning America, Miss York confesses she was also hazed when she started out as a pledge. In her response to the abuse allegations, Kazantsev states, "I'm going to take these things and turn it to a positive."
