'Arrow' Season 3 Spoilers: Ra's Al Ghul, Deathstroke and Green Lantern?
The Season 3 premiere of Arrow is just days away, which means the arrival of Ra's Al Ghul (Matt Nable) draws closer. But fans have not forgotten about Season 2's villain, Deathstroke (Manu Bennett), who is locked away in a prison cell. And it seems the producers have not forgotten about him, either.
Bennett spoke a Wizard World Comic-Con in Nashville recently and was asked if and when he would be back on the show. "Realistically, when we talk about storyline, they threw me into a really interesting place, Purgatory," he said (via ComicBook.com). "And you know, I'm left at the end, shaking the bars, going, 'I keep my promises, kid.' And I think I meant it. So I don't think that they are just going to let that voice subside into the vast abyss."
He then confirmed the producers told him Deathstroke would be back at some point. "But at this stage, I don't know. They said at the end of the season last year, they said, 'Look, we want you back. We want you back.' But there's been no indication yet of how they'll go about that at any point in time, right now."
It seemed likely Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and the rest would bring Deathstroke back after Oliver (Stephen Amell) decided to cure him of the Mirakuru and lock him away on an island instead of killing him. So what does Bennett want to do when he does return, hopefully at some point in Season 3? He wants to work with Nable, which would mean we'd see Deathstroke and Ra's Al Ghul sharing the screen!
"I know that Matt Nable, who's an Australian actor who I worked with on the Sons of Anarchy kind of biker series last year, maybe just the year before in Australia, just got cast as Ra's Al Ghul," Bennett said. "I mean this guy was playing the head of the biker gang that I was in. I was the tough guy in the biker gang, but he was like the head. And he's got such an intensity to him. But I don't know, man, if it ever comes down to him and me facing off in a scene, whew, I mean Stephen Amell is really going to have to bring it to the fire at that stage. It's going to be two Aussies, it's going to be an Aussie and New Zealander just sitting there and going 'whew.' I look forward to that. Matt Nable is a great actor."
In other Arrow news, many fans have already circled the first major crossover between the CW show and its spinoff, The Flash, later this year. The first half of the event takes place on The Flash in an episode entitled "Flash vs. Arrow." But Guggenheim tweeted the script cover for the second half of the crossover, which takes place on Arrow, and revealed the episode title is "The Brave and The Bold."
This is a reference to the several comic books that have had this title over the years, which include Green Lantern; however, it's more likely that this just an homage or an Easter Egg than it is an indication that Hal Jordan, John Stewart or another Green Lantern is about to show up on Arrow or The Flash. But anything is possible, so we'll just have to wait and see!
