Walmart Responds To Tracy Morgan Lawsuit Over Car Accident: Claims He Should Have Worn A Seatbelt

While comedian Tracy Morgan is busy making the necessary recoveries following his horrific car accident back in May of this year on the New Jersey turnpike, it appears Walmart has released a statement to the NJ federal court on behalf of the lawsuit against them. And we're guessing the 30 Rock star isn't going to like it...

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Walmart claims that Morgan's injuries on the night of the accident "were caused, in whole or in part, by plaintiffs' failure to properly wear an appropriate available seatbelt restraint device."

In a lawsuit filed in July, it is being questioned whether or not Walmart driver Kevin Roper was too overworked and fatigued to be driving on the night of the accident based on the fact that he had driven 700 miles before beginning his shift. The suit claims that "Walmart knew or should have known" that their employee had been "awake for more than 24 consecutive hours" before the crash had occurred.

Despite having released a statement, Walmart will not divulge details of what went down that night. However, the corporation does counter each of the defenses brought to them by Morgan, his assistant Jeffrey Millea, wife Krista Millea and comedian/friend Ardie Fuqua.

On top of the seatbelt remark, Walmart is stating, "By failing to exercise ordinator care in making sue of available seatbelts, upon information and belief, plaintiffs acted unreasonably and in disregard of plaintiffs' own best interests."

As THR notes, the company is demanding that Morgan's people get them a written statement detailing the amount of damages supposed.
