The Entire Cast Of ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Revealed Including Elizabeth Banks And Michael Strahan
Rumors about who would be cast in the sexy stripper sequel to 2012's Magic Mike, titled Magic Mike XXL have been in all over the place since the studio announced its second striptease-based film. Lucky for fans everywhere, the Magic Mike XXL has officially been announced. Let the countdown to men without shirts begin!
Warner Brothers has officially released the cast and first synopsis for the film and it is clear that this film is going to be full of hunky men just like the first one. On Monday morning, Live! With Kelly and Michael host Michael Strahan confirmed that he would be joining the cast of Magic Mike XXL.
As soon as the announcement was made, Kelly Ripa had a few questions she needed answered. "How much nudity can I expect? Do you need to be waxed? Do you need to see my laser lady?" Kelly joked.
Michael is one of the latest additions to the XXL cast. Pitch Perfect actress Elizabeth Banks and Community actor Donald Glover are the two newest members of the cast. Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell and Jada Pinkett Smith have also been confirmed as cast members.
Returning from the original cast of Magic Mike is Matt Bomer (who played Ken), Joe Manganiello (who played Big Dick Richie), Alex Pettyfer (who played Adam), Kevin Nash (who played Tarzan), Adam Rodriguez (who played Tito) and Gabriel Iglesias (who played Tobias). Channing Tatum, who played Magic Mike and wrote the Magic Mike XXL script, will be returning to act in the film and will produce the film alongside Reid Carolin. Unfortunately, Matthew McConaughey will not be returning as Dallas.
According to Warner Brothers, the story will start three years after Magic Mike left the stripper world. "Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, the film finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blowout performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them," the studio said in a press release.
"On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways."
Filming for the second installment has already begun in Savannah, Ga. "Crew and cast members were spotted along Whitaker Street near Moon River Brewing Company and several streets were temporarily closed for filming," Savannah Morning News reported. "On Monday, it seems that Savannah took on the role as Tampa, as Tatum was spotted filming while wearing a T-shirt with a business logo based out of the Florida city."
The highly anticipated sequel will hit theaters July 1, 2015.
