The Janson Directive, a novel written by the Bourne series author Robert Ludlum, has had a movie adaptation in the works for quite some time. Obviously an action thriller, rumors of which Hollywood star would lead the project have been spreading since earlier this year. One of those stars took to Twitter this week to confirm the exciting news. That star is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who was just cast as Black Adam in the Shazam movie adaptation for DC.

Without any knowledge of the novel and knowing Ludlum's work, we can expect The Janson Directive to be pretty amazing, especially with Johnson leading it!

As Johnson points out in his Twitter announcement, Academy Award winner Akiva Goldsman (wrote A Beautiful Mind) is penning the script. Check out the former pro wrestler's Twitter announcement here:

Universal Picture will most likely try to make this into a franchise, and we don't blame them! Clearly the project has the star power with Johnson as the lead, so we'll all probably be treated to some great action movies for some time to come!

According to Slash Film, we'll see Dwayne portraying "Paul Janson, a former Navy SEAL and legendary spy who leaves the U.S. government to start his own agency. However, he finds himself being hunted down by his own former bosses. To save himself, he must get to the bottom of a massive conspiracy."
