'The Vampie Diaries' Season 6 Premiere: Spoilers To Know Before Tonight's Big Episode- Is Elena Getting A New Love Interest?

We have been waiting for this night for literally months, and it is finally here. The sixth season of The Vampire Diaries is only hours away, and while we have been waiting the whole summer to see our favorite gang from Mystic Falls grace our TV screens again, we can't help but dig for more spoilers just to hold us over.

E! News sat down with the creator of the supernatural series, Julie Plec, to get all the scoop on the romance taking place this season, including what is going to become of Elena, now that Damon is stuck on the Other Side?

Well as Plec explains, it turns out that Elena will be moving on from Damon... with a new love interest?

Now simmer down all you Delena fans, because the creator teases that it'll be a little bit more complicated then Elena just forgetting about Damon and falling into the arms of another man. In fact, Julie sites Damon as "the love of Elena's life," however the creative team has added a character into the series that will have his sights set on Elena, however that doesn't necessary mean she is ready to get into a new relationship just yet.

As far as what else we can expect, Plec says that season sixth is going to be throwback to season one.

"Vampire Diaries this season is so fun and fresh and so exciting to write," Plece explained. "All the characters are going through all this crazy stuff that is really deeply rooted in their own emotional experience."

And it looks like Elena isn't the only one that is getting a new love interest; Stefan is also about to fall for someone.

"Stefan has a love interest and we'll find that out pretty darn quick," Julie states. "I'm not making any promises on how well that's going to go. Stefan's created this whole universe that he wants to live in and he's basically Mr. Denial."

Could Stefan and Elena be each other's new love interests? We are hoping, but that might just be wishful thinking on our parts.

The new season of The Vampire Diaries will premiere tonight on The CW at 8 pm.
