Danny Welbeck Vs. Mario Balotelli - Arsenal Or Liverpool: As England Striker Scores Hat-Trick The World Asks Who Made Better Transfer? Has Arsene Wenger Hurt Manchester United?
During the summer, the world knew that both Arsenal and Liverpool needed a striker, yet they waited until they were able to make the right buy. Eventually, the Gunners signed Manchester United's Danny Welbeck, while Liverpool signed Italian striker Mario Balotelli. However, both strikers cost around $23 million, and the two have been compared since. After the England striker scored a UEFA Champions League hat-trick, the world are now wondering if he's better than Balotelli and if Arsene Wenger got one over on the Red Devils in stealing their young, "electric" striker?
Wenger had high praise for his new transfer signing.
"I knew he was quick but he's electric," he explained. "Hopefully that hat-trick will help him gain confidence. It always helps to know that you have a good chance to play in the next game. What's good for me is that his link play is good as well. His teamwork and his work rate is at the level of the team. His attitude is very positive - he's a team player, not just a finisher. He has learned that on the flank and he wants to help the team."
United believed in Welbeck, yet they could never get him to score, but it seems Arsene has given him the confidence to do just that. Balotelli has started okay at Anfield, but he's had nowhere near the impact the young English striker has had, raising questions over why the pair cost a similar amount.
Is Welbeck enjoying a good start, or will he become the real deal for the Gunners?
